Action Plan for the Development of the Desalination Industry Has Been Issued
On July 16th, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Ministry of Water Resources jointly issued the "Action Plan for the Development of Seawater Desalination Industry". The document clearly sets the development goals: by 2030, the total scale of seawater desalination projects across the country will reach over 4.5 million tons per day, and the additional scale will exceed 1.5 million tons per day.
The plan deploys 7 core actions: strengthening water security in cities, enhancing the capacity of island and ship water supply, expanding the scale of industrial utilization, filling the gaps in scientific and technological innovation, enhancing the efficiency of industrial chain collaboration, promoting green and low-carbon transformation, and facilitating international cooperation for mutual benefit. At the same time, it encourages research and development of technologies for extracting strategic resources such as lithium and uranium from seawater, and supports the research and development of new processes such as salinity difference energy, photothermal coupling, and dual-membrane short-process methods. The implementation of policies will directly drive the demand for complete sets of water treatment equipment such as membrane elements, high-pressure pumps, and energy recovery devices.
